Andrew James Louis Brennan (born December 14, 1877 in Towanda , Pennsylvania , USA , † May 23, 1956 in Norfolk , Virginia ) was Bishop of Richmond .

Life

Andrew James Louis Brennan attended Holy Cross College in Worcester , where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1900 . Brennan then studied philosophy and Catholic theology at St. Bernard's Seminary in Rochester and at the Pontifical North America College in Rome . He received the sacrament of ordination for the Diocese of Scranton on December 17, 1904 . 1905 Andrew James Louis Brennan was in Rome for the doctor of theology doctorate .

From 1905 to 1908 he taught Greek at St. Thomas College in Scranton . Andrew James Louis Brennan was Chancellor of the Scranton Diocese from 1908 to 1923 . He was also from 1914 to 1924 rector of St. Peter's Cathedral in Scranton.

On February 23, 1923, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the titular bishop of Thapsus and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Scranton. The Bishop of Scranton, Michael John Hoban , donated to him on April 15 of that year, the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Sioux Falls , Bernard Joseph Mahoney , and the Auxiliary Bishop of Hartford , John Gregory Murray . As auxiliary bishop, Brennan was pastor of the parish of St. Mary of Mount Carmel in Dunmore .

On May 28, 1926 Pius XI appointed him. to the Bishop of Richmond. The inauguration took place on December 16 of the same year. Andrew James Louis Brennan resigned as Bishop of Richmond on April 14, 1945. Thereupon Pope Pius XII appointed him . as titular bishop of Telmissus .
