(207585) Lubar is a main inner belt asteroid discovered on August 17, 2006 at the 60 cm Cassegrain telescope of the Andrushivka Astronomical Observatory in Haltschyn ( IAU code A50), Ukraine . The asteroid had been sighted before, for example on October 13 and 14, 1999 as part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey at the 2.5-meter Ritchey-Chrétien reflector of the Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico .

The asteroid is a member of the Martes family, a group of asteroids named after (5026) Martes . The Martes family is a subfamily of the Erigone family named after (163) Erigone .

(207585) Lubar was named on August 6, 2009 after the urban-type settlement Ljubar , which is located in northern Ukraine.
