Ljubar ( Ukrainian Любар ; Russian Любар Ljubar , Polish Lubar ) is an urban-type settlement in the southwest of the Ukrainian Oblast Zhytomyr and the administrative center of the raion of the same name with about 2100 inhabitants (2019).
The village, founded in 1350, is located on the Slutsch , a right tributary of the Horyn , 85 km southwest of the Oblast center of Zhytomyr and received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1924. By Liubar running trunk road N 03 , the Khmelnitsky connects to Zhytomyr.
An asteroid discovered by the Andrushivka Observatory on August 17, 2006 was named Lubar in honor of the city (207585) .
Rajon
Ljubar Rajon , founded in 1924 and the administrative center of which is the village, is located in the southwest of Zhytomyr Oblast. It has an area of 757 km² and a population of 27,000. The population density is 37 inhabitants per km².
