Oserne (Ukrainian Озерне ; Russian Озёрное / Osjornoje ) is an urban-type settlement in Zhytomyr Raion in the Zhytomyr Oblast of Ukraine .
The Rajons capital Zhytomyr is 15 km northwest of the settlement. The place forms together with the urban-type settlements Hujwa and Nowohujwynske the settlement community Nowohujwynske.
The place was created in the course of the construction of an airfield in the area of the village Skomorochy (now north), in 1933 the air garrison was built. During the Second World War , the airfield became more important; under German occupation, the facilities became a prisoner of war camp. The German settlement colony of Hegewald was established in the vicinity of the SS garrison . Heinrich Himmler's bunkered headquarters were located in Hegewald, near the airport . After the reconquest by the Red Army in 1944, the airfield and the garrison were greatly expanded. Since 1959, the place that developed around the military facilities has been an independent urban-type settlement.
