Tschernjachiw ( Ukrainian Черняхів ; Russian Черняхов Tschernjachow , Polish Czerniachów ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Oblast of Zhytomyr and the administrative center of the raion of the same name with about 10,000 inhabitants (2014).

The village, first mentioned in 1545, is located on the T -06-05 26 km north of the Zhytomyr Oblast center and received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1923. 1943 was taken at Cherniakhiv order of the regional special representative for relocation measures of the race and settlement Main Office (RuSHA) of the SS, Theo Henschel, a German settlement colony called "Förster city" in which after the expulsion of resident Ukrainian approximately 9,000 people German within the meaning of " umvolkung " were settled. After the city was conquered by the Red Army, it was disbanded in 1944.

The Chernyakhiv Raion, founded in 1923 and whose administrative center is the village, has an area of ​​850 km² and a population of around 30,000. The population density is 36 inhabitants per km².
