Pulyny ( Ukrainian Пулини ; Russian Пулины Puliny , Polish Pułyny , German formerly Pulin ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Oblast Zhytomyr with about 5400 inhabitants (2017) and the administrative center of the raion of the same name .

The middle of the 12th century under the name of Tschertolessy ( Чертолесы ) first mentioned place has been called Puliny ( Пулины ) since 1583 . On October 3, 1935 Puliny was renamed Chervonoarmiysk (Ukrainian Червоноармійськ ; Russian Червоноармейск Chervonoarmeisk ) and received the status of an urban-type settlement. On May 19, 2016 the place was renamed back to its old name Pulyny in the course of the decommunization in Ukraine .

The village is 45 km northwest of the Oblast capital Zhytomyr . The M 06 trunk road runs south of the settlement .

To the settlement council with an area of ​​58,967 km² and about 6000 inhabitants belong besides Pulyny also the villages Buryakivka ( Буряківка ), Wessele ( Веселе ) and Jahodynka ( Ягодинка ).

Personalities
