(26734) Terryfarrell is an asteroid of the main middle belt discovered on April 23, 2001 by Canadian astronomer of Hong Kong origin William Kwong Yu Yeung at the Desert Beaver Observatory near Eloy , Arizona ( IAU code 919). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had previously occurred on August 17 and 23, 1998 (1998 QA 43 ) and in 2000 (2000 AA 172 ) at the Lincoln Laboratory Experimental Test System in Socorro , New Mexico .
The asteroid was named on March 28, 2002 at the suggestion of William Kwong Yu Yeung after Terry Farrell , a former model of the Elite Model Management agency . Terry Farrell is best known as an actress. Her most famous role was that of Jadzia Dax on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . Another Deep Space Nine actress, after whom an asteroid discovered by William Kwong Yu Yeung is named, is Nana Visitor . The asteroid (26733) Nanavisitor is named after her.
