(347028) Važec is an asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered by the Slovak amateur astronomer Tomáš Vorobjov on March 13, 2010 at the fully automated LightBuckets Observatory in Rodeo, Hidalgo County , New Mexico ( IAU code H11), even before the observatory moved to France in November 2011 . Tomáš Vorobjov was able to control the telescope used from Europe. There had already been sightings of the asteroid in 2001 under the provisional designation 2001 VV 72 at the outstation of the Steward Observatory located on Kitt Peak .
The asteroid belongs to the Nysa group, a group of asteroids named after (44) Nysa (also called the Hertha family, after (135) Hertha ). The timeless (not osculating ) orbital elements of (347,028) Važec are almost identical to those of nine other asteroids: (24768) 1993 FC 13 , (102612) 1999 VY 19 , (119337) 2001 SB 146 , (130436) 2000 QY 13 , (163751) 2003 OQ , (170238) 2003 QS 27 , (255723) 2006 QK 124 , (260551) 2005 EN 187 and (291909) 2006 QP 11 .
