(3643) Tienchanglin is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 29 October 1978 at the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing was discovered.
The asteroid was named on September 28, 1999 after the former Chancellor of the University of California , Chang-Lin Tien (* 1935).
