(5059) Saroma is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 11 January 1988 by the Japanese astronomer Kin EnDate and Kazuro Watanabe at Kitami Observatory ( IAU code 400) in Kitami in the sub-prefecture Okhotsk was discovered.

The asteroid belongs to the Eunomia family, a group named after (15) Eunomia , to which probably five percent of the asteroids in the main belt belong.

The celestial body was named after Lake Saroma on the island of Hokkaidō , the third largest inland lake in Japan.
