discovery
(7796) Járacimrman was discovered by the Czech astronomer Zdeněk Moravec on January 16, 1996 at the Kleť observatory near Český Krumlov (the 312nd asteroid discovered here) and was given the provisional designation 1996 BG. It later emerged that he had been observed earlier and was given the designation 1973 YE3 and 1990 VG. In 1997 the orbit was calculated and the asteroid could be named. The name was given at the suggestion of the discoverer Moravec after the fictional person of Prague cultural life Jára Cimrman .
