(7960) Condorcet is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 10 August 1994 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory ( IAU code in 809) Chile was discovered. The first sightings of the asteroid had already been made in October 1991 under the provisional designation 1991 TP2 at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg (IAU code 033).

(7960) Condorcet was named after the French philosopher , mathematician and politician of the Enlightenment Marquis de Condorcet named (1743-1794).
