-broich
The ending -broich (with an unspeakable stretch-i , predominantly pronounced Brooch [ ˈbʁoːχ ]) is part of many - mostly Rhenish - place names and means quarry or swamp landscape . An albeit controversial hypothesis is that it comes from pre-Germanic times, there is also a hypothesis of a Celtic origin. It is also occasionally used as an independent place name Broich .
