12 is the twelfth studio album by the German rock musician Herbert Grönemeyer . Just a few days after its release on March 2, 2007, the album reached the top of the German album charts. The album was also distributed as a special edition, which, in addition to the standard CD, contains a DVD that contains the entire album as a 5.1 mix in Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 96/24, as well as in PCM stereo. In order to ensure the greatest possible compatibility with a wide variety of playback devices, this DVD is designed as a DVD-Video.

Arezu Weitholz co-wrote the lyrics for the song Spur .

Naming

Grönemeyer explains the title of the album, which he would now call head up, dance , not only with the fact that it is the twelfth studio album in his career. His birthday is on April 12th and there are 12 songs on the album. According to his interpretation of the Chinese number symbolism , 1 and 2 are the symbols for man and woman and 3 for the child - in this case the third album that was created together with Alex Silva . Finally, the “ö” in the middle of the number twelve spoke for the album title.
