5th German Bundestag
The 5th German Bundestag existed between October 19, 1965 and October 19, 1969. The 5th German Bundestag held a total of 247 sessions, with the last session being held on July 3, 1969. The 5th Bundestag was constituted by the 1965 Bundestag election , which took place on October 3, 1965.
The senior president was Konrad Adenauer ( former Federal Chancellor) until his death on April 17, 1967, and then Arthur Enk, also from the CDU .
On October 20, 1965, the 5th Bundestag elected Ludwig Erhard (CDU) with 272 (+6) yes-votes, 200 (+15) no-votes, 15 (+1) abstentions in the first ballot for Federal Chancellor . After his resignation on November 30, 1966, Kurt Georg Kiesinger (CDU) was elected as his successor on December 1, 1966.

At the beginning and at the end of the legislative period, the 5th Bundestag had a total of 496 members (+22 Berlin members of the Bundestag ). The CDU / CSU had the highest share of seats with 245 (+6) seats (end: 253), followed by the SPD with 202 (+15) seats (end: 216). In addition, the FDP (49 + 1 seats at the end of 49 seats) were represented in the 5th Bundestag .
Presidium of the Bundestag
In the first session, Eugen Gerstenmaier was re-elected President of the Bundestag with 384 votes in favor, 21 against, 98 abstentions and 4 invalid votes. On January 31, 1969 he resigned and Kai-Uwe von Hassel was elected as his successor on February 5, 1969.

1. Committee of Inquiry
On March 16, 1967, the 1st Committee of Inquiry, also known as the " HS-30 Committee of Inquiry", was set up. There were 90 meetings between April 27, 1967 and June 26, 1969.
2. Committee of Inquiry
On November 13, 1968, the 2nd Committee of Inquiry, also known as the " Intelligence Services Committee of Inquiry ", was set up. Eleven meetings were held between November 14, 1968 and May 7, 1969.

There were three special sessions during the 5th electoral term, the 119th session on September 6, 1967, the 120th session on September 8, 1967, and the 169th session on April 30, 1968.
