6th German Bundestag

The 6th  German Bundestag existed between October 20, 1969 and December 13, 1972. In total, the 6th German Bundestag met in 199 sessions, with the last session taking place on September 22, 1972. The composition of the 6th Bundestag was determined by the 1969 Bundestag election , which took place on September 28, 1969.

Age president was William Borm ( FDP ).

On October 21, 1969, the 6th Bundestag elected Willy Brandt ( SPD ) with 251 (+14) yes-votes, 235 (+8) no-votes, 4 invalid votes and 5 abstentions in the first ballot for Federal Chancellor .

A total of 518 seats

At the beginning and at the end of the legislative period, the 6th Bundestag had a total of 496 members (+22 Berlin members of the Bundestag ). The CDU / CSU had the highest share of seats with 242 (+8) seats (end: 258), followed by the SPD with 224 (+13) seats (end: 233). In addition, the FDP (30 + 1 seats at the end of 27 seats) was represented in the 6th Bundestag .
