history
Burial mounds from the Hallstatt period (approx. 800 to 480 BC) indicate that the Waldhausen area was already settled by the Celts . Waldhausen was first mentioned in 1239 as "Walthusen". Through donations from various feudal men, the place came to the rule of Kapfenburg and with it to the county of Oettingen , which sold it to the German Order in 1364 . A small part stayed with Ellwangen . The Lords of Oettingen nevertheless claimed the high authorities. After the Reformation , Waldhausen remained Catholic. In 1806 Waldhausen came to Württemberg and initially belonged to the Oberamt Neresheim . When it was dissolved in 1938, Waldhausen became part of the Aalen district . The hamlets that belong to Waldhausen today were predominantly Ellwangish and were subordinate to the cooking castle .
On January 1, 1970, Waldhausen was incorporated into Aalen.
