Abd al-Salam Jallud
Abd as-Salam Jallud ( Arabic عبد السلام جلود, DMG ʿAbd as-Salām Ǧallūd , also Abdessalam Jalloud or Abdul Salam Jalloud ; * December 15, 1944 in Mizda , Fessan , south of Tripoli , Libya) was Prime Minister of Libya .
Major Jallud received his military training with the armored forces in Misrata , at the military academy in Benghazi and briefly in the USA and Great Britain. As one of the closest allies of Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi in his coup on September 1, 1969, Jallud was first deputy prime minister and industry minister in 1970, then interior minister. He was then Minister of Finance from 1970 to 1972 and Prime Minister of Libya from July 16, 1972 to March 1, 1977 . Until 1993 he was considered the "number two" ("Deputy Revolutionary Leader") of the Libyan leadership and was assessed as more pro-Soviet than the revolutionary leader.
He was later placed under house arrest by the government. In the course of the war in 2011 he was released, fled via az-Zintan to Italy and announced the establishment of a “national and liberal party”.
