Abeer Abdelrahman Khalil Mahmoud ( Arabic عبير عبد الرحمن خليل محمود, DMG ʿAbīr ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān Ḫalīl Maḥmūd ; * June 13, 1992 in Alexandria ) is an Egyptian weightlifter. She took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012 . In both games, she finished fifth. In 2016 she received the silver medal retrospectively, as the three medal winners from London in 2012 were disqualified for doping . In August 2016, the World Weightlifting Federation announced that the Chinese Liu Chunhong had won her gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games with the help of several doping substances such as sibutramine and hormones . The IOC disqualified her from her first place. Also in August 2016, the World Weightlifting Association reported that the Ukrainian Natalija Dawydowa had achieved her third place by taking dehydrochloromethyltestosterone . For this reason, Abdelrahman was subsequently awarded the bronze medal. In 2011 she won gold at the Pan-Arab Games in Doha.

International results

  • In 2008 she won the African Championships in the category up to 69 kg. At the Junior World Championships she won the competition up to 69 kg. At the Olympic Games in Beijing , she won the bronze medal.
  • In 2009 she took first place in the +75 kg class at the 6th International Eleiko Austria Women's Tournament. At the Junior World Championships she reached 3rd place. At the world championships in Goyang she reached the 3rd place.
  • At the African Junior Championships in 2010 she won the gold medal and at the Junior World Championships the silver medal in the +75 kg category. At the World Championships in Antalya in the same year she came in 9th place in the category up to 75 kg.
  • In 2011 she took first place in the China IMF Grand Prix. At the Junior World Championship she reached 4th place. At the World Championships in Paris , she was ninth. At the Pan-Arab Games in Qatar , she won the class up to 75 kg.
  • At the Olympic Games in London 2012 she won the silver medal in the class up to 75 kg.
