Abraham Abramson
Abraham Abramson (* 1752 or 1754 in Potsdam ; † July 23, 1811 in Berlin ) was a German and the most important Jewish medalist and royal Prussian mint master .
Life
Abraham Abramson was a pupil of his father Jakob Abraham Abramson (1723–1800), worked in Berlin and made medals on current events of his time, especially from Prussian history. He also depicted celebrities such as Immanuel Kant , Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , Christoph Martin Wieland , Johann Georg Sulzer , Friedrich Gedike , Leonhard Euler , Moses Mendelssohn and Marcus Herz , and some medals with a Jewish content also come from him.
Abramson is considered to be "the most important representative of classicism in Germany" in his field . He created more than 250 medals . In addition, he made 57 commemorative coins by 1807 , which are recorded in Johann Georg Meusel's Teutschem Künstlerlexikon from 1808.
