Abraham D. Mattam

Abraham D. Mattam CV (born November 21, 1922 in Narianganam , † April 16, 2019 in Edappally ) was an Indian clergyman and Syro-Malabar bishop of Satna .

Life

Abraham D. Mattam joined the religious community of the Vincentine Congregation of Malabar and was ordained a priest on March 15, 1950 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 29, 1968 Archbishop Exarch of Satna. With the elevation of the exarchate to the diocese of Satna on February 26, 1977 he was by Paul VI. appointed first diocesan bishop of Satna. The Archbishop of Bhopal Eugene Louis D'Souza MSFS donated him episcopal ordination on April 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Leobard D'Souza , Archbishop of Nagpur , and Théophane Matthew Thannickunnel OPraem , Bishop of Jabalpur .

On December 18, 1999, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He died in 2019 in the center of the Vincentine Congregation of Malabar.
