Abraham Franz von Bailliodz (born October 1736 in Môtiers - Travers , Canton Neuchâtel , † August 13, 1815 in Treptow an der Rega ) was a Prussian major general .

Abraham was the son of Johann von Bailliodz, country nobleman von Môtiers-Travers, and his wife, a born von Beauvret.

Military career

Bailliodz visited the cadet institute in Berlin from September 21, 1751 and was then employed on August 28, 1756 as an Estandartenjunker in the cuirassier regiment "Margrave Friedrich" No. 5 of the Prussian Army . With the regiment he took part in the battles near Prague , Breslau , Kunersdorf , Liegnitz , Torgau , Freiberg and Brandt, as well as the siege of Schweidnitz , during the Seven Years' War . Bailliod was wounded at Leuthen , Kay and Meißen . During the war he became a cornet on January 12, 1757 and a lieutenant on May 23, 1760.

In mid-June 1772, he was promoted to staff assistant master . As Rittmeister and company commander , Bailliodz took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . In the further course of his military career Bailliodz rose to colonel on June 10, 1792 and as such was commander of the cuirassier regiment on March 1, 1798. Since the regiment chief Ludwig von Württemberg resigned on March 22, 1800, the regiment initially remained vacant . Bailliodz was, however, by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. entrusted with the leadership. He promoted him on May 20, 1800 with a patent from May 21, 1800 to major general and finally appointed Bailliodz on October 2, 1800 as the new head of the regiment. On the occasion of a review on May 28, 1804, Bailliodz was awarded the Order Pour le Mérite for his services .

Due to his state of health, Bailliodz diminished on September 2, 1806 with an annual pension of 1000 thalers .

He died unmarried.
