Absolution is the third studio album by British alternative rock band Muse . It was recorded in a studio in Ireland with producer Rich Costey and released in September 2003. With this album, the band also hit the US charts for the first time .

In contrast to the previous albums, the band did not have a fixed schedule when recording Absolution, they could take as much time as they needed to change and improve the songs again.

In Apocalypse Please, for example, strings were recorded, but never used, rather put on guitars and piano to make the song heavier .

The first single, 'Stockholm Syndrome', was only available as a download from the official Muse website. The first regular single was 'Time Is Running Out'. Furthermore, the songs 'Hysteria', 'Sing For Absolution' and 'Butterflies & Hurricanes' were released as singles.

All songs were written by Matthew Bellamy , Dominic Howard and Christopher Wolstenholme .
