Drexel University
The Drexel University is a private university in Philadelphia in the US state of Pennsylvania . The school was founded in 1891 by Anthony Joseph Drexel as the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry . At first no academic degree was awarded. The “Bachelor of Science” could be obtained in 1914 when the 18 departments were organized into 4 schools. In 1927 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania granted Drexel the privilege of conferring the "master of science" and in 1965 the "doctor of philosophy" degree. The university has a natural history museum , the Academy of Natural Sciences .
Drexel has changed its name twice: in 1936 it became "Drexel Institute of Technology" and in 1970 finally Drexel University.

The university hospital bears the name of Samuel Hahnemanns .
