Acquaviva Platani is an Italian city in the Free Community Consortium Caltanissetta in the autonomous region of Sicily with 918 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Acquaviva Platani is located 68 km west of Caltanissetta and 3 km from the left bank of the Platani River. The residents mainly work in agriculture. Almonds, olives, pistachios and grain are produced.

The neighboring communities are Cammarata ( AG ), Casteltermini (AG), Mussomeli and Sutera .

history

In Arab times there was a small settlement here. The present place was founded in 1635 by Francesco Spadafora. The place was called Acquaviva because of the abundance of spring water.

Attractions

The church del Purgatorio was built in 1914 and is located near the town hall. The Madonna della Luca church dates back to the 17th century. Next to the parish church is the clock tower, which was built in 1894.
