Adalbert Schäffer , also Béla Schäffer (* 1815 in Groß-Karol , Kingdom of Hungary , † March 1, 1871 in Düsseldorf ), was a Hungarian genre , portrait and still life painter .

Schäffer's educational path is unknown. He embarked on his artistic path from genre and portrait painter to established still life painter in Pest ( Hungary ) and in Vienna , where he first appeared in public in 1842 by taking part in the annual exhibition at the kk Academy of Fine Arts in St. Anna with his Sending pictures began, first with study heads and portraits, in 1847 with a still life. He also took an active part in the exhibitions of the Austrian Art Association . Since his still lifes - in contrast to his genre and portrait painting - met with a positive response, he remained loyal to this subject and specialized in the depiction of magnificent vessels with flowers and fruits. In addition to magnificent still lifes, he created still lifes for hunting. In 1858 he appeared at the German general and historical art exhibition in Munich with the pictures The Cup of Mathias Corvinus in the town hall in Wiener Neustadt and The little flower friend . In the 1860s he made a trip to Saint Petersburg . He spent the end of his life in Düsseldorf , where he became a member of the Malkasten artists' association in 1871 .
