Adam Dario Keel (born November 16, 1924 in Lugano ; † May 21, 2018 in Rebstein , Switzerland ; entitled to live there ) was a figurative painter, paper cutter and object artist.

biography

Adam Keel was the second youngest of eleven children of the expressionist painter and wood cutter Carl Eugen Keel and Emma Keel-Schär. The parents ran a handicraft business in Gandria . Since this could not secure the existence of the large family, the family often changed their place of residence. Adam had to earn his living in a factory after elementary school. In 1961 he married the textile artist and teacher Ria Keel-Traber, with whom he had two sons. He lived in Rebstein in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley .

Adam Keel wanted to become an artist as a child, but he didn't have the money for an appropriate education. As an autodidact , the Outsider Art is counted. Keel favored in the 1950s and 1960s pastel - and tempera techniques , in the 1970s the modern, realistic pencil drawing developed in the 1980s and 1990s was an avant-garde and access to the silhouette, the great in the professional world attention. Adam Keel transferred the graphic decisiveness of the paper cut to drawings since the 1990s. In addition to two-dimensional works, Adam Keel also designed objects made of wood and metal.
