Adam Otto Wilhelm von Bistram ( Russian Адам Иванович Бистром ; born October 12, jul. / 23. October  1774 greg. In Merjama ; † 17th October 1828 in Dresden ) was a Russian lieutenant general .

Adam was a member of the Baltic noble family von Bistram . His parents were the heir to the Estonian estates Merjama, Pedua as well as Luist and Russian Major General Hans von Bistram (* 1757) and Charlotte Helene, née Tiesenhausen from the Alt Adlehn family (* 1749). He remained single and died without leaving any children. His brother Karl von Bistram (1779–1838) was a Russian infantry general .

Bistram joined the Semyonov Guard Regiment of the Imperial Russian Army at a very young age . In 1793 he was the captain of the Finnish Hunter Battalion. He took part in the fighting in Lithuania in 1794 . From 1797 to 1802 he was with the Kronstadt garrison and since 1802 with the Lithuanian Musketeer Regiment. After he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1804 , he distinguished himself in the Fourth Coalition War at Prussian Eylau , for which he was honored with the Order of St. Vladimir IV class. At the end of the war he had been promoted to colonel and command of the regiment. He took part in the War of Finland in 1808 and received the golden sword of honor. In 1810 he became chief of his now renamed 33rd Jäger Regiment. From 1811 to 1815 he was in command of a Jäger Brigade, composed of the 1st and 33rd Jäger Regiments. He was also able to distinguish himself during the Russian campaign and in the wars of liberation . For his service with Malojaroslawez he received his promotion to major general and for the Vyazma the Order of St. George IV. Class and for the capture of Paris the Order of St. George III. Class. From 1815 to 1825 he was the commander of the Pavlov Guards Regiment, and from 1819 at the same time commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 2nd Guard Infantry Division. Alexander I put him on leave in 1825 and ordered him to the suite. Bistram received his promotion to lieutenant general in 1826.

The Prussian major in the Grenadier Guard Battalion Otto Heinrich von Bistram received the order Pour le Mérite on December 11, 1793 for his service in front of Kaiserslautern . In the family entry in the genealogical manual of the Estonian knighthood, this is equated or confused with Adam Otto Wilhelm von Bistram. Furthermore, Adam von Bistram was the owner of the St. Anne's Order I Class, the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, founded by Paul I , the Order of St. Vladimir III. Class, as well as Knight II. Class of the Order of the Sword .
