Adolf Theo Schneider (born March 10, 1961 in Fremont , California ) is a German-American entrepreneur, reserve staff officer ( colonel ) and local researcher . He has lived and worked in Vallendar in Rhineland-Palatinate since 1986 .

Life and education

Schneider attended elementary school (Bernhard Honkamp School) in Welver , the Aldegrever grammar school in Soest and, from 1972, the municipal grammar school Bettina von Arnim in Dormagen , where he obtained the general higher education entrance qualification ( Abitur ) in 1980 .

From October 1981 to February 1985 he studied at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg (today: Helmut Schmidt University ) and graduated in February 1985 with a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on processes and data processing. In 1994 he was awarded the designation " European Engineer " by the Fédération Européenne d'Associations Nationales d'Ingénieurs in Paris . In 1995 he completed the “Management of Managers Europe” course in Paris at the University of Michigan - School of Business Administration.

From 1980 to 1992 Schneider was an officer in the German Armed Forces for 12 years . He is a trained tank officer, worked in logistics after studying and from 1988 to 1992 in what was then the PSV battalion in Andernach. Schneider has been a reserve staff officer since 1992 and worked until 2011 as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Defense - command staff of the armed forces. In 1998 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of the Reserve and in 2012 to Colonel of the Reserve. He is a Colonel in the General Staff at the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr in Cologne .

Schneider is a member and section head of the Koblenz section of the German Defense Association (DWT)

Entrepreneur

In 1990, Schneider founded Schneider + Partner in Vallendar, a consulting company in the field of organizational optimization, project management and interim management, as well as Schneider System GmbH, which has been operating as UWS Business Solutions GmbH since 2010 and whose shares he sold in 2015. Schneider is also the owner of the Wüstenhof agricultural estate, on which his family has lived since the 17th century.

Local history activity

Schneider has been a homeland researcher and collector for over 40 years. He supports u. a. the city of Vallendar in questions of homeland and family research and organizes annual exhibitions in the city museum operated by him. Schneider collects local and regional historical documents, books and objects and has built up an extensive collection from them and is the author of a number of publications on homeland and family research.

Activity for a peaceful and united Europe

Beginning with student exchanges to England in the 1970s and officer exchanges with France , Schneider has been volunteering for a peaceful and free Europe since the 1980s . From 1994 to 2003 Schneider was Vice President and Managing Director of the Konrad-Adenauer-circle of liberal and European Relations (President: Parliamentary State Secretary retd. Roswitha Verhülsdonk ). In 1995 he was one of the founders of the Mérite Européen Freundes und Förderkreis Deutschland eV , which was initiated by the then President of the Bundestag, Kai-Uwe von Hassel , and is now vice-president.

University commitment

Schneider has been volunteering at both Vallendar universities since 1988, the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar (including advice and participation in the ethics institute, medical-ethical working group, strategy committee, finance committee) and the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management (participation in the admissions committee, forum Medium-sized businesses as well as historical topics) and deals with ethical issues.
