Adolph von Voss

Curt Andreas Adolph von Voss (born April 15, 1788 in Diepholz ; † October 14, 1858 at Gut Münte in Diepholz) was a German district administrator, administrative lawyer and politician in the Kingdom of Hanover .

Adolph von Voss was born on April 15, 1788 in Diepholz as the eldest son of Karl August Friedrich von Voss (1750–1820), head forester in Diepholz, master of Münte and Falkenhardt, and Albertine Luise, née. von Hugo (1757–1825), born. In 1819 he married Albertine, b. von Bothmer (1794–1829). With her he had two children, Albertine Louise Agnes (1820–1879) and Albert Carl August (1829–1871). After his first wife died in 1829, he married Amalie Luise Henriette, geb. von Cramm (1799–1875), who in turn had a daughter and a son, Louise Auguste Albertine Wilhelmine (1833–1861) and Ernst Friedrich Julius (* 1835).

Life

From 1806 von Voss studied law at the universities of Göttingen and Rostock . In 1807 he interrupted his studies when he accompanied his father to the island of Zealand in Denmark , who wanted to be the supplier for the British blockade fleet off Copenhagen during the sea ​​battle of Copenhagen . After the bombardment of the city in August and September 1807 and the withdrawal of the English, he and his brother fell into Danish captivity until Easter 1808. After his release, he continued his studies at the University of Kiel . At the end of 1808 he re-enrolled at the University of Göttingen, where in 1809 he was one of the founding members of the Corps Hannovera .

In April 1809 he left Göttingen with his coätanen Carl Jacobi and August Feder in an attempt to join an alleged uprising against the French rule of Wilhelm von Dörnberg in Duisburg . He then returned to Göttingen for a short time, but left the city after the so-called gendarme affair . In October 1809 he enrolled with his brother in Heidelberg , where he was a member of the loose association of Hanoverians.

Between 1812 and 1815 he took part in the Wars of Liberation . From 1820 he managed his estates at the Münte in Diepholz and north of it at the Falkenhardt estate. He was at the Drost in the office of Wohldenberg near Marienburg . In 1821 he was appointed district administrator of the Hoya countryside and six years later in 1827 district administrator of the county of Hoya , whose office he held for ten years. From 1831 he was chamber councilor of the monastery chamber Hanover and at the same time chamber councilor of the domain chamber in Hanover . From 1839 to 1848 he was director of the Hanoverian domain chamber and from 1844 to 1848 general director of the Hanoverian hydraulic engineering.

From 1839 von Voss was a member of the Hanover State Council , of which he was a member for 19 years until 1858. In 1840 he was awarded the Guelph Order in the class of commander for his services .
