Agyness Deyn [ ˈægnɪs diːn ] (born February 16, 1983 in Littleborough , Greater Manchester as Laura Michelle Hollins ) is a British top model as well as an actress and singer .

biography

Beginnings

Deyn managed to get into the modeling industry after her grandmother registered her for a modeling contest. A modeling agency advised her to change her name, so she decided on the first name "Agyness". At first she wanted to name herself "Agnes" after her grandmother , but then her mother, who was interested in esotericism , calculated that the spelling "Agyness" would better suit her karma. Her surname "Deyn" comes from "Dean", an old family name whose spelling her mother also calculated for her.

Model career

Deyn is commonly known as a “rock and roll model” with her straw-blonde pixie cut and boyish style. On the May cover of US - Cosmopolitan she was celebrated even as "the" new supermodel. She appeared u. a. on the cover of Italian , French and British Vogue and on the cover of Japanese “Dazed & Confused”. She also promoted Jean-Paul Gaultier's fragrances “Ma Dame” and “The Beat” from Burberry and modeled for Blumarine , Hugo Boss and Giorgio Armani . She is the muse and favorite model of British designer Henry Holland .

Other activities

In addition to modeling, Deyn also plays in the band Lucky Knitwear . She was also involved as both a singer and an actress in the music video for Song Who by the band Five O'Clock Heroes . This collaboration inspired her to found her own band, Gene Jacket , which is already working on a few songs.

Deyn also played in the short film The Right Side of My Exultant Brain on the side of Dustin Hoffman's son Jake Hoffman . Alanna Masterson , who worked on the script for The Right Side of My Exultant Brain , is also in Deyn's band Gene Jacket .

In 2009 Deyn demonstrated her acting talent in two commercials for Vöslauer Mineralwasser and became known to a broad audience in Austria . In 2010 she was seen as the Greek goddess of love Aphrodite in the remake of Clash of the Titans . Since 2017 she has played a leading role in the British-American television series Hard Sun from BBC One and Hulu .

Private life

Since June 16, 2012, Deyn was married to American colleague Giovanni Ribisi . The wedding took place in Los Angeles , California . In 2015 both announced their separation. On August 28, 2016, she married fund manager Joel McAndrew in the Brooklyn borough of New York .

Awards

In 2007 Deyn received the “Model of the Year” award at the British Fashion Awards.
