The Academy Graz is an Austrian Culture - club based in Graz . The founder was in 1987 Emil Breisach . Astrid Kury has headed the academy since November 2006 .

The Association for the Care of Culture and Science was founded by Emil Breisach on August 12, 1987 and stands for a number of cultural and socio-political activities and initiatives that call on mature citizens to take responsibility for our society and to actively contribute to its shaping .

activities

Examples of the activities of the association are, besides the announcement of the literature prize, the implementation of artistic workshops, exhibitions and art projects as well as the co-founding of the summer festival La Strada in 1998, the exhibition Masterpieces of Styrian Modernism 2003 and the LandArt project opened in 2005 in the castle park and in the Au -Landscape in Gleinstätten .

With a spontaneously organized exhibition in 2011, the Graz Academy thematized the Styrian ban on begging and was able to motivate 21 artists to produce works related to the topic of begging and the ban on begging and to bring them into the exhibition, which was reported across Austria.

Literature Prize

The literary prize of the Graz Academy has been awarded [out of date] since 1994 in the form of a thematic literature competition to young authors up to the age of 40. It was founded by Emil Breisach .

The literature prize, endowed with 7,400 euros, is awarded by a jury. In some cases, several hundred participants from home and abroad have already taken part. The previous winners also include well-known authors, u. a. Dimitré Dinev , Bettina Balàka or Georg Petz .
