Life

Siebeke took part in the campaign against the Soviet Union in World War II . He then studied philosophy in Halle (Saale) and law in Bonn . He was a senior at a Düsseldorf law firm. In 1987 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .

He was married to the CDU politician Ingrid Siebeke (1924-2018), who was Mayor of Mettmann from 1975 to 1994 . The couple had six children.

Siebeke died on August 6, 2013 in Mettmann at the age of 90.

Activities in the CDU

From 1968 to 2004 he was a federal party judge and for many years deputy chairman of the federal party court of the CDU . As such, he was also involved in the party exclusion proceedings against Martin Hohmann in the course of the so-called Hohmann affair . Hohmann had lodged a complaint with the Federal Party Court against his party exclusion pronounced by the state party court, which was rejected by the latter with a decision of November 4, 2004. Here Siebeke spoke out in a special vote against Hohmann's exclusion from the CDU because, firstly, there was already penalties and, secondly, there was no serious damage to the party. In 2010 he published a book on this subject together with Fritz Schenk .

Stop the left trend action

In 2010 Siebeke was the initiator of Aktion Linktrend stop , a grassroots group of conservative CDU members and publisher of the manifesto against the left trend of February 15, 2010, which opposes the abandonment of Christian-conservative and market-economy positions in the form of the Berlin Declaration of the CDU -Party leadership turned on January 15, 2010 and was signed by several active as well as former members of the federal and state parliament and around 8,000 CDU members.

The action was commented on by almost the entire party leadership and the entire spectrum of political daily newspapers. The CDU General Secretary Hermann Gröhe considered the party's left-wing trend alleged by Siebeke to be absurd, but nevertheless, according to the action, made personal contact with Siebeke. The New Germany commented that the action may be the birth of a new party. This was immediately denied by Siebeke, and he actually did not undertake any activities in this direction. At the beginning of 2012 there were regional groups in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony. The aim of the action to stop the left trend should be to prevent a new party from forming to the right of the CDU due to its left trend, which election researchers had forecast double-digit percentages. The AfD was founded in 2013 .
