Albanians in Australia

The Albanians in Australia ( Albanian  Shqiptarët në Australi , English Albanians in Australia ) represent an ethnic minority in the country with a population of over 100,000 people. Most of them are ethnic Albanians from Macedonia. It is believed that over 90% of the Macedonian diaspora is of Albanian descent. There are many Arvanites from Greece and Arbëresh from central and southern Italy. In addition, according to the 2011 census, there are 13,142 Albanians from Albania and around 6,000 from Kosovo .

The Albanian immigrants in Australia have established several football clubs as well as clubs to protect their culture and language. Albanian football clubs in Australia are the KF Shqiponja Melbourne , the Dandenong Thunder Soccer Club , the Heidelberg Eagles and the Nord Sunshine Eagles .

Arbëresh in Australia

In Australia, many members of the long-established Albanian minority live in central and southern Italy. According to the Albanian American Civic League lobby organization founded by Joseph die Guardi , around 64,000 of the 1,000,000 or so Italians in Australia are Arbëresh. A well-known Arbëresh is the Australian pop singer Gabriella Lucia Cilmi , her grandparents emigrated from Italy to Australia.
