Albert Hoffmann (born May 15, 1945 in Vienna ) is an Austrian painter .

Life

After completing secondary school, Hoffmann completed an apprenticeship as a businessman . After a few years of practical experience, he went into business for himself and practiced the profession until 1987. Even as a teenager he showed talent for drawing and painting, but was unable to further develop it through his professional activity. After a serious illness, he decided in 1987 to give up his business and put painting at the center of his life. From 1988 he completed an apprenticeship with Michael Haas in Wiener Neustadt , where he was trained primarily in the watercolor technique and subsequently also in the various techniques of oil painting . He also continued to develop his talent for drawing. After intensive occupation with painting and the study of literature about the old and new masters , he began in 1996 to give courses and workshops at the Baden Art Weeks, at the Salzburg Adult Education Center, at the Adult Education Center Ternitz and at the Adult Education Center Gerstetten in Germany.

Hoffmann organized and led painting seminars in Austria and organized painting trips to Hungary, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Greece, Slovenia and Croatia. He also founded in his home town of Gloggnitz a painting school in Schloss Gloggnitz . To support his teaching activities and to impart painting techniques to his students, Albert Hoffmann published a DVD in 2005 with the title Watercolors after the painting school Albert Hoffmann , which he also presented in a contribution to the ORF broadcast Schöne Leben in 2004.

In 2004 he founded the cultural association Art Aktiv Gloggnitz , within the framework of which he organized exhibitions with artists, such as art in the castle park and the Christmas exhibition Artistic Crafts . The cultural follow-up use of Gloggnitz Castle, which was the scene of the Lower Austrian Provincial Exhibition in 1992 , was ensured by its activities. The castle has also become a social center for the community through the events of the castle studio.

Hoffmann received recognition for his work in 1999 when he was accepted as a member of the professional association of Austrian visual artists, whose president Karl Novak counts him among the leading watercolor painters in Austria. Hoffmann presented his works in 2000 in Venice and in the Weatherburn Gallery in Florida. He also exhibited at the International Art Fair in Salzburg in 2002 and 2003 and at the exhibition 60 Years of the Republic in Gloggnitz Castle in 2005 . Albert Hoffmann opened his last exhibition on April 22nd, 2009 on the exhibition bridge of the Lower Austrian country house in St. Pölten . This cross-border traveling exhibition on the topic of Danube - Alps - Adriatic with further stops in Graz and Grado was concluded in November 2009 in Gloggnitz. His works were bought by the graphic collection of the Albertina Vienna , the art auction in Vienna's Dorotheum , the state of Lower Austria and the Delegation of the European Commission Vienna .

Through the publication of several art calendars, the art catalog watercolors and drawings, and the book Der Weg , he presents his works to a wide audience. In Volume XII of the series Monographs on the Art of Austria in the Twentieth Century , published in 2001 by the Austrian Art and Culture Publishing House in Vienna, he is represented as a contemporary artist. In 2006, Hoffmann took part in the art calendar for the benefit of cancer research and, in the course of an exhibition in the Gloriette in Vienna , made a work available for auction free of charge for this purpose. As a patron of the United Old Austrian Military Foundations, he dedicates one of his works to the VAM's social fund every year, which is auctioned at a benefit gala at Rothschild Castle in Reichenau an der Rax.

In recognition of his work and for his services to adult education in the field of painting, as well as in recognition of his work in promoting art and culture, the Federal President awarded him the professional title of Professor . He has lived in Gloggnitz since 1969.
