The District Museum of the Inner City is the district and local museum of the 1st Viennese district Inner City .

The relatively small museum (an anteroom and two showrooms) is housed in the old town hall at Wipplingerstraße 8. The then district chairman Heinrich A. Heinz and the custodian of the Schottenstift and longstanding museum director Robert Mucnjak are named as initiators of the founding of the museum association in 1972 . Initially, the former registry in the old town hall served as a showroom and work space, then in 1985 the company moved to a former bakery. In 2005 there was another move.

The museum shows, among other things, finds from Roman times, a collection of old Viennese engravings and watercolors and in the second showroom exhibits from the year 1848 to the present day, including 99 subjects by Archduchess Valerie. The museum also has a library with around 1000 volumes with a focus on the city's history and an extensive archive. Particularly noteworthy is the Zabusch collection with its historical house index in downtown Vienna.

The museum can be accessed through the left inner courtyard of the Old Town Hall (Museumshof). It is open Tuesday and Thursday 4pm to 6pm with free admission. It is closed on public holidays, during the Christmas break, on Good Friday and during the summer break for schools in Vienna.
