The District Museum Hietzing is the district museum and local history museum of the 13th Viennese district Hietzing . It is housed in a former school building at Am Platz 2. The building shows itself in the facade in the style of historicism , but goes back in the foundation walls to the time before 1680.

The district museum shows the historical development of those suburbs that are now grouped together in the 13th district of Vienna, from prehistory (Palaeolithic finds) to the 20th century. Among the mementos of famous personalities are the typewriter of Nobel Prize winner Berta von Suttner , Egon Schiele's easel, and the model of the Villa Primavesi (Gloriettegasse) built by Josef Hoffmann . Since Schönbrunn Palace is also part of the “noble district” Hietzing, the museum also contains memorabilia from the imperial family and of course a show of historical views. Social and club life is also documented. Ewald Königstein is the director of the district museum.

The museum, which is largely based on voluntary work, also organizes special exhibitions and lectures. The opening times are regular.
