The District Museum Döbling is a museum in Wertheimsteinpark in the 19th district of Döbling in Vienna .

history

The Döbling District Museum was opened in 1964 as the Döblinger Heimatmuseum and is housed in the Villa Wertheimstein and the older part, known as the “Nonnenstöckl”. In 1971 it was renamed the District Museum Döbling - Villa Wertheimstein . The aim of the district museum is to present the history of Döbling and viticulture . The museum association also organizes concerts, lectures and special exhibitions.

Collections

The Döbling District Museum has several thematically separated halls. Finds from the prehistory and early history of the district with geological information are exhibited. Furthermore, a hall shows old representations and photos from the districts and a model of the former monastery on the Kahlenberg . Another hall illuminates the traffic history of the district and shows models of the earlier cogwheel or cable car . In addition to the representation of the industrial development of the district, the famous Döblinger Ferdinand von Saar , Eduard von Bauernfeld and the Wertheimstein family are commemorated. There is also a wine museum in the cellar.
