The District Museum Landstrasse is a district museum at Sechskrügelgasse 11 in Vienna's 3rd district, Landstrasse . It is located in the municipal district office for the 3rd district.

history

In 1935 the establishment of a district history collection Landstrasse was discussed, and in 1937 the association district history Landstrasse was founded. In the course of annexation to Hitler Germany, the association was forcibly dissolved in 1938. The museum was re-founded in 1949 with chairman Hans Pemmer and opened in the former secondary school for girls at Rochusgasse 16. Today's Landstrasse district museum was opened in the gym of the former boys' secondary school on December 1, 1956 in Sechskrügelgasse. Every year around 5000 people visit the museum.

Since 1980, the Bezirksmuseum Landstraße Nachrichten has been published four times a calendar year on the occasion of the upcoming opening of a special exhibition.

Collections

The district museum has an extensive archive of writings and images, including the watercolor collection of Adolf Albin Blamauer . The photo collection from the years 1930 to 1970 by Franz Josef Göttlicher (born February 7, 1892 in Vienna; † June 15, 1984 there) is remarkable.
