Albert Venohr

Albert Venohr (born September 4, 1902 in Magdeburg , † June 22, 1979 in West Berlin ) was a German actor who was mainly seen in batch roles .

Life

He took acting lessons from Louise Dumont in Düsseldorf and made his debut in 1919 at the Reussisches Theater Gera . In 1921 he got an engagement at the Schlossparktheater in Berlin.

Since then, Berlin has been his place of activity as an actor and director, for example at the Volksbühne and the Piscator stage . In 1928 he was involved in the premiere of Brecht's Die Dreigroschenoper in the role of Ede . During the Second World War he also appeared at the National Theater in Mannheim .

He was seen in a small role in film for the first time in 1918, but it wasn't until the 1930s that he appeared more frequently on the screen. Albert Venohr never played a leading role, but was only seen in small batch roles.

In 1946 he worked as an actor and director at the Landestheater Meiningen , then returned to Berlin. He had a number of theater appearances there, especially at the Volksbühne and in the theater on Kurfürstendamm . At DEFA he initially took on several film roles, where he worked as a dubbing director from 1952 . In 1956 he received the Heinrich Greif Prize, 2nd class, for his work as a dubbing director for the dubbing of the French film " Red and Black ".

After the Wall was built in 1961, Venohr worked in west Berlin, although the decision to give up his professional connections in the GDR was not an easy one for him: “I have now terminated my contract with Defa and it is impossible for me to go back and forth for a long time can. The decision to get rid of everything was certainly not an easy one for me after all these years, but the condition that had existed since August 61 was no longer acceptable for me. "

He remains known through the TV series Der Forellenhof (1965) with Hans Söhnker , Jane Tilden , Gerhart Lippert and Helga Anders and Tournee - A Ballet Dances Around the World (1970) with Maria Litto , Edith Schultze-Westrum , Gerhart Lippert and Harry Wüstenhagen . In 1967 he was one of the leading actors in the five-part documentary television film Civil War in Russia with the role of Lev Borisovich Kamenev . The other main characters were played by Nikolaj Rytkov , Friedrich G. Beckhaus , Hubert Suschka and Friedrich Schütter .

Venohr was married to the actress Maria Griem (1911–1986) since 1942 .
