Albert Willebrand (the younger)

Albert Willebrand , called the Younger , also Willebrandt (born July 10, 1652 in Rostock , † March 29, 1700 ibid) was a German law scholar and university professor.

Life

Albert Willebrand the Younger was born in Rostock as the son of the legal scholar of the same name Albert Willebrand the Elder and his wife Elisabeth Cothmann (1622–1662). After taking lessons from private teachers and attending the Rostock city school, he began studying law in 1660 . He was enrolled at the University of Rostock as "filius rectoris". Studies were continued in 1670 at the Frankfurt University Viadrina with Johann Brunnemann , Johann Rhetz and Samuel Stryk . In 1672 he was in Wittenberg , Leipzig and Jena, from 1673 again in Rostock and in 1676 in Helmstedt with Daniel Clasen . After completing a dissertation with Clasen, he became a licentiate in both rights. After educational trips through Western Europe, which he u. a. led through Germany, France, England and Holland, he was awarded Dr. iur. PhD. In 1685 he was appointed ducal full professor of rights / institutions by Duke Christian Ludwig I at the law faculty of Rostock University as successor to Johann Festing . Willebrand died of consumption at the age of 48.

Albert Willebrand married on July 8, 1683 Katharina Christina Fischer (1662–1742), daughter of Daniel Fischer, mayor of Rostock and his wife Elisabeth Sophie von Böckel. The children came from marriage:
