The Alert is a rapid intervention vessel ( English Rapid Intervention Vessel ) of the Trinity House . The prefix of the ship's name is THV and stands for Trinity House Vessel .

General

The alert was commissioned on March 11, 2004, together with the two multi-purpose vessels NLV Pharos and THV Galatea , from Remontowa in Gdansk . The order volume for the three ships was £ 38 million . The new building was built on the belonging to Remontowa Northern Shipyard and ran there on 11 October 2005 from the stack . One day after its delivery on April 10, 2006, the Alert started its transfer trip to Harwich , the headquarters of Trinity House. The ship is stationed on the south-east coast of England in order to be able to react immediately to shipping accidents in the English Channel and the Strait of Dover .

Furnishing

The Alert is primarily equipped for the search for wrecks . With a hull sonar , a side view sonar and echo sounders , a sunken ship or lost cargo can be located and measured. For the subsequent designation of the accident site, a hazard sea mark is always carried. The working deck with a ship's crane , the dynamic positioning , a towing gear and additional accommodation for four people also make the ship universally applicable, for example as a buoy laying ship or survey ship .

Is driven, the alert of two Caterpillar - marine diesel engines , with each 1,492  kW power on two KaMeWa - pitch propellers act. The cruising speed is 15  knots , with a maximum of 17 knots.
