Alessandro Cesarini (1592-1644)
Alessandro Cesarini (* 1592 in Rome ; † January 25, 1644 ibid) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal.
biography
He comes from the family of the Dukes of Civitanova and the Marchesi of Civita Lavinia and was the son of Giuliano II. Cesarini , Duke of Civitanova and Montecosaro, and Livia Orsini . His great-uncle was Cardinal Alessandro Cesarini seniore (died 1542). Other cardinals in the family were Giuliano Cesarini (appointed by Pope Martin V in 1426 ) and Giuliano Cesarini juniore (appointed by Pope Alexander VI in 1493 ).
After studying in Parma , he became a cleric in the Apostolic Chamber and was governor in the conclave of 1623 , in which Pope Urban VIII was elected.
In the consistory of August 30, 1627 he was appointed cardinal deacon with the deaconry of Santa Maria in Domnica ; In 1632 he decided to join the Diakonie of Santi Cosma e Damiano .
In 1636 he was appointed Bishop of Viterbo ; the following year he chose the diaconia of Santa Maria in Cosmedin , then, in 1638, that of Sant'Eustachio . In the same year he renounced his diocese.
He died in Rome in 1644. His grave is in the family crypt in the Church of Santa Maria in Aracoeli .
