Alexander Friedrich von Woldeck (* February 1720 in Vehlow ; † October 5, 1795 in Wesel ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , chief of the "Woldeck Fusilier Regiment" named after him and knight of the Pour le Mérite and governor of Wesel .

Life

origin

Alexander Fridrich came from the old Markian noble family von Woldeck and was the son of Christoph von Woldeck (1667–1735) and his wife Hedwig von Weltzien (1663–1725). His brother Hans Christoph embarked on a military career and also advanced to lieutenant general.

Military career

Woldeck was a Prussian cadet in Berlin from May 7, 1734 and in mid-December 1738 was subordinated to the "Kalckstein on foot" regiment as a private corporal . There he rose to prime lieutenant . With the beginning of the Seven Years' War in 1756 he became captain , in 1762 major and commander of a grenadier battalion made up of grenadier companies from the regiments "Margrave Karl" and "Ramin" . Here he excelled on various occasions. Previously, there were wounds in the battles near Breslau and Kunersdorf , as well as near Freiberg . On January 8, 1774, he received the Pour le Mérite from King Friedrich II . In 1772 he became a lieutenant colonel and was ready on June 1, 1773 as a colonel . In 1782 he became head of the defunct "Fusilier Regiment Lossow" in Minden , which was named "Woldeck" after him, from 1786 it was called "Jung-Woldeck". On May 23, 1782 he received the rank of major general , on May 20, 1789 he became lieutenant general. In 1792 he gave up his regiment and became governor of Wesel with a salary of 2000 thalers. The king also awarded him the Great Order of the Red Eagle . In addition, Woldeck had been Drost zu Rheinsberg since April 8, 1794 .

Woldeck married Luise Ernestine von Weltzien (* September 12, 1763 - October 28, 1834) in Berlin on November 25, 1780 . The marriage had four children:

He had a falling out with his wife, but he probably took her money and used it to rehabilitate the Gnewikow estate . But in 1791 he forbade her to enter it. The widow remarries after the death of her husband. Her second husband was Hans Friedrich von Weltzien (* November 7, 1768, † February 6, 1813) from the House of Sammit in 1801.
