Alexandru Paul Curtean (born March 27, 1987 in Sibiu ) is a Romanian football player . He has been under contract with FC Hermannstadt in Liga II since February 2018 .
Career
Curtean's career began at Gaz Metan Mediaș , where he joined the squad of the first team in 2003, which at the time played in the Romanian second division, Divizia B (since 2006 Liga II ). After he was initially hardly taken into account, he was increasingly used from the 2005/06 season, but was rarely able to assert himself as a regular player for a long period of time. In 2008 he and his team were promoted to League 1 , the top division of Romania. There he was finally a regular for Gaz Metan and was able to achieve seven goals in the first half of the 2008/09 season .
During the winter break, Curtean left the club and joined FC Timișoara , who played for the top of the table. After the runner-up in 2009, he moved into the group stage of the Champions League with his club in the following season . The 2009/10 season he concluded with his team with the qualification for the UEFA Europa League , where he was only used in half of the games. In the 2010/11 season he fought back to his regular place, but from October 2010 was only rarely used. At the end of the season he won the runner- up with his team behind Oțelul Galați . His club was then denied approval for the 2011/12 season , which is why he had to relegate to Liga II . In the winter break of 2011/12 he left Timișoara and switched to first division team Dinamo Bucharest . There he was able to win his first title with the cup win in 2012 .
At the beginning of 2014, he and his teammate Srdjan Luchin moved to Botew Plovdiv in the Bulgarian A Grupa . There he finished the 2013/14 season in fourth place, which meant participation in the Europa League . In September 2014 he returned to Gaz Metan Mediaș. At the end of the season he had to relegate with Gaz Metan. He joined the promoted ACS Poli Timișoara in the summer of 2015 . After the preliminary round in 2015/16 , the Poli left again and joined FK Atyrau in Kazakhstan. In Atyrau he was a regular player and finished the preliminary round in 2016 with his team in seventh place. In the subsequent round of relegation, he achieved relegation.
In early 2017 Curtean returned to Romania, where he joined Gaz Metan for a third time, who now played in League 1 again. After relegation in 2017 , he was only used irregularly in the first half of the 2017/18 season . At the end of 2017, he dissolved his contract and joined second division FC Hermannstadt .
