Alfred Bayer (State Secretary)

Alfred Bayer (born March 8, 1933 in Munich ) is a German ministerial official and manager . He was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Chairman of the CSU- affiliated Hanns Seidel Foundation .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1952, Bayer studied economics for teaching at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and passed the state examination in 1957 . He became a member of the Catholic student association KBSt.V. Rhaetia Munich .

Then worked in the municipal school service in Munich. In the 1960s, Bayer advised CSU General Secretary Anton Jaumann on economic issues, and after he was appointed Finance State Secretary in 1969, he was appointed to the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance . In 1970 he became Jaumann's policy advisor in the State Ministry for Economics and Transport . In 1976 he was appointed head of the Ministry of Economic Affairs as a ministerial director.

When the German government took office under Helmut Kohl ( CDU ) in 1982, Bayer became State Secretary under Minister Werner Dollinger (CSU) in the Federal Ministry of Transport . As State Secretary he was also on the Lufthansa Supervisory Board .

In 1987 he left the federal government and was appointed CEO of Isar-Amperwerke in Munich. In this role he drove forward the commitment of the plants in the new federal states and the diversification . On May 31, 1997, he left the company. He was also chairman of the supervisory board of Erdgas Südbayern GmbH and a member of the supervisory board of Bayerische Zugspitzbahn AG.

From 1994 to 2004 Alfred Bayer was also chairman of the CSU-affiliated Hanns Seidel Foundation . During his term of office, among other things, he expanded the foundation's activities to Eastern Europe and built the foundation's conference center in Munich, which cost 26 million Deutschmarks. He is currently chairman of the board of trustees of the Erich-und-Erna-Kronauer-Stiftung in Schweinfurt and a member of the board of trustees of the Munich School of Politics (HfP).

He is captain of the reserve. Bayer is married and a Roman Catholic .
