Alfred Heer (born December 4, 1917 in Glarus ; † January 18, 1999 , reformed , resident in Glarus) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Alfred Heer was born on December 4, 1917 in Glarus as the son of the businessman Rudolf Heer. The graduate of the Trogen Cantonal School began studying law at the University of Zurich , which he completed in 1944 with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed. Subsequently he worked as a lawyer in Glarus. He also served in the Swiss Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel .

In 1947 Alfred Heer married Itala, the daughter of the site manager Lodovico Piave Riguzzi. He died on January 18, 1999, just after he had turned 81 in Glarus.

Political activity

The political career of the member of the Free Democratic Party began in 1953 when he was elected to the Glarus City Council , of which he was a member until 1986, from 1964 onwards as mayor . At the cantonal level, he represented his party from 1956 to 1981 in the Glarus district administrator , which he also chaired between 1963 and 1964. In addition, he acted as president of several commissions, such as the AHV / IV appeals, land rights and hospital building commissions. In addition, he sat on the National Council for the canton between 1970 and 1971 . He also served as President of the Glarus Criminal Court from 1961 to 1990.

Alfred Heer was considered an excellent lawyer and cost-conscious politician, under whose leadership important projects were implemented in Glarus.
