Alice is a city in Jim Wells County in the US state of Texas in the United States and the seat of the county seat .
geography
The city is located in southeast Texas, about 60 km to the east from the Gulf of Mexico and about 90 km to the southwest from Mexico . It has an area of 31.9 km², of which 1.0 km² is water.
history
Alice was founded as a bandana in 1888 and later renamed Kleberg . After that, the city was renamed again to Alice, named after the daughter of Richard King , the founder of the King Ranch, who built one of the largest ranches (600,000 acres or around 2400 km² in size).

In Alice there are currently 29 different churches from 10 different denominations. Among the churches belonging to a denomination, the Baptist congregation is most strongly represented with 9 churches. There are also 10 churches that do not belong to any denomination (as of 2004 ).
