Alicia Beth Kaye (born October 7, 1983 in Smithers , British Columbia ) is a Canadian triathlete who has competed for the United States since 2010 .

Career

Professional triathlete since 1997

Alicia Kaye started her first triathlon at the age of 12, became a Canadian professional athlete at the age of 14 and began her international elite career at the age of 16 when she finished 21st at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Australia.

In 2006 she was named U23 athlete of the year. She was accepted into the American Olympic project USA Triathlon Project 2012 .

In August 2015, she finished fifth at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.

Ironman distance since 2016

In May 2016, she started an Ironman race for the first time and she finished fifth in Texas - the race was held on a shortened bike course (94 instead of 112 miles).

In March 2017, she won her fourth Ironman 70.3 race in Puerto Rico. At Ironman Mexico in November 2017, she achieved the fastest swimming time ever achieved in an Ironman race with 41:49 minutes.

Alicia Kaye is married to the US triathlete Jarrod Shoemaker , the brother of Jenna Shoemaker , and studied sports psychology (B.Sc.) and sports management and athletic counseling (master, 2009).
