Alick Banda

Alick Banda (born November 15, 1963 in Mufulira , Zambia ) is a Zambian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lusaka .

Life

Alick Banda was ordained a priest for the diocese of Ndola on August 7, 1994 .

On May 30, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Solwezi . The Apostolic Nuncio in Zambia and Malawi , Archbishop Nicolas Girasoli , donated him episcopal ordination on July 29 of the same year . Co- consecrators were Telesphore George Mpundu , Archbishop of Lusaka , and Noel Charles O'Regan SMA , Bishop of Ndola.

On November 13, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI called him. to coadjutor bishop of Ndola. With the resignation of Noel Charles O'Regans on January 16, 2010, he succeeded him as Bishop of Ndola. In addition, he headed the Solwezi diocese as apostolic administrator until its replacement at the end of May 2010 .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Lusaka on January 30, 2018. The inauguration took place on April 14th of the same year. Until the inauguration of his successor Benjamin Phiri on August 15, 2020, he administered the diocese of Ndola as Apostolic Administrator.
